Peoples Westchester Bank
White Plains, NYPROJECT MISSION
Design the interior of a branch bank in a strip mall.
CLIENT GOALS
The
goal was to use materials that would survive repeated abuse because the
branch clientele is composed mainly of construction workers. The
laborers track mud and soil from their jobs into the bank. Tools in
tool caddies strapped to their belts would damage teller counters and
furniture. Fear of constant replacement made cost considerations
paramount.
CONSTRAINTS
The
client insisted on a very tight budget because they feared that
materials would have to be replaced frequently due to damage.
DESIGN APPROACH
CFA
specified quality materials that could stand the abuse. They were
available as “seconds” which minimized their cost. Floor tiles and all
laminates function and appear as first quality goods. As of this date
they have not needed to be replaced. CFA’s ingenuity accomplished all
goals. Design did not have to be sacrificed for budget.
